Not absorbing iron infusions

I have had recurrent bouts of anaemia for some time now. Its usually fixed with an infusion (I have infusions as I have constipation issues)

The route cause has never been found.

I am currently having investigations as I have had some gastro symptoms including early satiety, bloating, reflux, discomfort when I eat even a small meal.

I have been tested for gastroparesis, and that result came back as slightly delayed stomach emptying.

I have had barium swallow tests, which showed mild reflux damage.

And I had a gastroscopy done last week. They took lots of biopsies.

I have also had a colonoscopy which was normal.

However I was diagnosed with slow bowel motility some years ago, and use a water irrigation system to empty my bowels.

I have had various blood tests done including a test for coeliac, which was negative.

I'm waiting to see a motility specialist (been waiting 6 months) to try and find out what's going on with my gastro issues.

My gp and haematologist seem to think they will have all the answers.

However, my body is not absorbing the iron infusions I'm being given.

My ferretin level shoots up straight after, but my serum iron never really goes above 8. So I'm still feeling symptomatic. My haemoglobin is always normal too.

I have zero energy, have to really concentrate to do the simplist of things, feel weak all the time, I'm dizzy a lot.

I just can't take this anymore.

I also have diabetes and hypothyroidism.

I just wondered if anyone had any clues as to why the body may not absorb iron?

My kidney and liver bloods have always been normal too.
