HI, keep using the largest one you can - every day. i had surgery 18 months ago to 'open' the area - i still need to use them every day. good luck. Ashley Jo

I was never told about a dialator. Would that be something the doctor recommends? Do you buy them over the counter or is it prescription?

I bought the dilator on line. Just Google it. It comes in package of about 4 or 5 different sizes. I don't feel a doctor needs to prescribe this. They are like having a sex toy. Just have fun with it, starting with the smallest and gradually introduce the larger sizes. Always use lube. Keeping that area supple is important, so however you do that, works. If you have partner, it's fun to do together.

I got mine on prescription, they're about £45, if you're fused they're really necessary. Nothing else is going to do the job.

At first I used the dilator several times a day. especially shortly after my dilation procedure. Then once a day, gradually using the bigger sizes. At present I use the dilator, biggest size, twice a week. For lubrication I use coconut oil.

Hello Ladies, I am a male who has been dealing with LS for almost 8 years now and by reading the Women's Health / LS Forums here I recognise that many women really struggle with issues of skin fusing-together in the Vulva region.

The most important things I have come to acknowledge for those of us using a Steroid ointment (or cream) regime is that you need to: i.) rub it in sufficiently, and, ii.) apply it sufficiently frequently enough to deal with all the adverse skin effects in ALL of the infected areas. FUNDAMENTALLY, once you have found the balance of i and ii it is also essential to keep the skin supple by actively stretching it on a DAILY basis, otherwise it is all too-easy for the LS to take over and you end up with the dreaded skin-shrinkage and/or fusing on your most essential external Lady parts.

In these Women's Health / LS Forums I have found that Nancy KB to be the Guru of everything Lichen Sclerosus - however, one post I saw from Starlight8 - June 1st 2018 - had a very helpful practical step-by step approach to dealing with LS and how to manage it. I am going to re-post most of what She stated in a Forum reply to someone else, purely, so that other LS Sufferers can benefit from it. From what I say above I would draw your attention, in particular, to point 17 in Her post - >>>>>>>>

Oh Blueplum that's rotten. I used mine every other day when I was trying to stretch open, one day to stretch and the next to heal because it could be quite sore. Now I'm on the largest one and I try to use it Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If I only use it twice a week there's still a tiny tear each time. You just have to do it, I still struggle to find time. It's not so much the time to doing it, that's only 3 minutes, 30 secs in and the rest of the time to wash and put it away, it's more the thinking about it, and fitting the thinking about it into everything else I do in the day. And the procrastination because I don't really want to do it and... You get the picture. But you just have to. I'm going to do mine now because I forgot yesterday. After I've checked all the other messages here...
