Not completely diagnosed yet! Need Help

I need help! My son might have this condition. We will be seeing an orthopedist to confirm. His primary care doctor had an xray taken and feels there is slippage. I would like to know about aftercare. How long do you stay in the hospital after surgery and when can you go back to school. Are you home for several weeks? I am a single mom and I'm really worried about my son as well as keeping my job. Can someone please help.

hi courtney...the main thing you need to worry about is timing. if u feel this could be the problem DONT let him walk on it whatever you do. my son aged 13 was left by the hospitals to walk on his leg for 10 months. he is now 20 and disabled for life. this is a very occurrence in children and if treated soon enough leaves no implications whatsoever..you need to push for them to see him straight away, even if it means sitting in casualty and refusing to move. i went to casualty and got sent home again..if i knew then what i know now, there is NO WAY i would have left...go get him seen hun...NOW...good luck xxx

Hi my daughter has just undergone surgery for sufe. she is on crutches for 6 weeks (hopefully no more as she is realy upset) ut if htey come off crutches before it can apparently bend the pins and cause a re-slip. she cannot have contact sport for at least 18 months and this includes trampolines. no exercise until re-xrayed and seen by consultant. she has returned to school for a few hours a day bt panicking about getting knocked or falling over. it is difficult but once they come to terms with it and get used to changes in lifestyle your life will settle back to normal as it can. hope all goes well for him, Emma
