I have been bleeding daily, usually it stops when my stool is soft but this time around even though stool is soft im still bleeding. i can see red mucas blood on the first part of the stool i pass. can hemorroids cause this? dark mucas blood? i am getting increasingly worried and crying cause i think it might be something more serious.

Hi Jasmin, It is possible to have internal &/or external haemorrhoids, or a fissure(a small crack or tear) either can bleed...bright red blood means the bleeding is local, like from your bum hole...everytime stool passes through it causes irritation and takes longer to heal, if you can get a topical ointment like Anusol etc..it helps w/pain and shrinks the nasty little H..rrhoids, a fissure may take a bit longer to heal, keep the area clean... just basic soap no perfumes, the ointment helps it heal, cool packs/cloth can help with pain right after a bowel movement and stop the bleeding...soaking your bum in a little bit of warm(not hot, can add a tiny bit of salt) water a few times a day can help, some people soak their bum in the water in a shallow pot and poo in the water, until the hole heals...sounds gross but, its better than tearing a new one everytime...it would be ideal to ask your DR...but, you can try these things, if they don't work, you can tell the DR what you tried...I have done this MYSELF, so I know it works & many others have done this too...try not to panic, I know its blood but, it should heal...keep drinking water & having fiber(it keeps poo soft)....come back anytime and keep reading you may get some more advice...Good Luck & take care๐Ÿ’’๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽถโ™พโ˜ฎ๐Ÿ€

    Hi Jasmin,

i think i mentioned on the other thread that is only a very small percentage of bleeding cases that are due to more ominous reasons and if the blood is bright red it is most commonly from hemorrhoids. BUT you SHOULD ALWAYS get it checked out by your doc.

Can you not see a GP at least who can perform a digital rectal examination? If the can feel a hemorrhoid then that might ease your worries.

I have been exactly where you are now, obsessively googling and thinking the worst and it only makes the situation worse.

I've had cameras up and down and been told my excessive bleeding is hemorrhoids and i honestly didn't believe it even after that.

My bleeding became so severe that I've spent the last week in hospital and needed 4 units of blood in 3 transfusions. They did various scans and confirmed that even in this extreme case it was hemorrhoids, so believe me they can and do cause regular bleeding .

I had a hemorroidectomy yesterday and was coming on here to see others experiences and saw you posting again.

I know it's easier said than done, but please try and stop googling things and try and get a medical opinion.

Having been where you are I completely understand how you feel.

Good luck and hope you get sorted!

Hey Toddy i have had a rectal exam and my hemorroids are quite obvious so the doctor did not need to look much further. But im thinking how is it possible for hemorroids to bleed everyday i guess in cases like yours its defiantly possible. my hemorroids dont look bruised or swollen cause usually i can feel the internal one when its swollen but it hasnt been then why the bleeding is my question.

Honestly im saddened to hear your situation, blood tranfusion because of hemorroids is very unusual. Glad you have got your hemorroidectomy done. how have you been? is it as bad as people have mentioned ?

Not too bad at the moment thanks considering some of the horror stories you read on there.

Some pain and have been left with severe anaemia but better than potentially dying!

The consultant said it is very rare for hemorrhoids to bleed that much but it can happen and there's a few of us on here with similar experiences.

Push for a referral as even if its just hemorrhoids they need sorting as in my experience they will get worse over time.
