The symptoms you have are side effects and are very common.

I have never felt to ill as when I started these tablets but know from experience that I react quite badly to any type of antidepressant when I start.

I felt all that you feel now and also felt quite manic sometimes, no sleep, weird dreams when I did sleep, shakey, going from being numb no emotion to highly strung, I dont think anyone knew what to say to me because they didnt know what frame of mind I was in! :?

Have been on them 4 months now and feel much better. I have been ill for many years so know that I have up and down times and this is the first time I have actually agreed to take any medication for any length of time, my psychiatrist is lucky if he can get me to take anything for more than 6 months! I have finally agreed that Sertraline downs seem to be working so am going to continue on them.

They arent for everyone so if you dont notice any change in the next month or so (antidepressants can take up to several months before they take full effect) then pop back to your doctors for some advice.

    Good luck

Thank you for replying, it makes it easier knowing there are people out there who understand what it is like to suffer from this type of illness. I think there is still a huge stigma going on relating to this, it would be more acceptable to speak about physical illness there for less lonely. sad

    Hi

I've been on 100mg of this for quite a long time. It's very difficult to say if they're working, because I think I've become a bit immune to the effects. I wou;d say that the bad dreams and general weird feeling is quite normal, and will fade after a bit. I mean, it all depends on how you are in yourself. They aren't magic pills, unfortunately, they just take away the worst symptoms. I am still depressed, but at least can get on with low level stuff. sorry to sound a bit hopeless, but it's good to get this kinda stuff off your chest, isn't it?
