    Hi sassybees,

Sending you best wishes and hugs.

You deserve better than this. Make sure you get the best treatment available. Don't let them fob you off with the cheap option.

Do you have a National Health service in Australia or are you insured?

    Hugs,

The end age......in as old as u can get to have this filing procedure done. Its not done by my surgeon and he says there is still argument as to whether it helps or not. This is history repeating itself. Yea he did say there was OA at the last visit...i reminded him of this fact...that's when he showed me the lip of socket...then proceeded to tell me of this procedure that id probably be turned down for. Guess its wait for it to become bone in bone again. His attitude really sucked this visit....he was new 5 mbths ago and obviously wanted to make an impression. .....his nice and caring nature flew right out the window. So back to square one....as my hubby says....well kiddo eat some cement with dinner and toughen up.

As an old friend of mine used to say "Life's a bitch and then you die"

Sadly he is no longer with us.

Unless they tell you that you are too old to get the new hip.  Here in the States, everything health care is changing and will probably get worse with the new president come election time this year.  There is now a cut off age as to even being admitted into the hospital.  This has never been before.  It has all come down to humanity wanting to make the most money possible, so the newest doctors are actually trained to save the hospital money instead of good care.  I asked my doctor when I should have my shoulders replaced and he said, "While you are young."  What is young?  I feel I am in dangerous territory being 58.

Another new thing is the "Death Panels" that will be set up where a group of non medical people will decide who can receive treatment and who will be made comfortable and die.  Nothing short of euthanism.

That is disgraceful. I wasnt talking about a hip replacement. . The cut off age is for a filing procedure....not done by my ortho specialist....

Society is going mad - we should be looking after our seniors, not killing them off because they are costing too much.  They have contributed their taxes all their lives, they are entitled to better.

In UK the retirement age is creeping up, I am lucky I will still retire at 65, but my wife, who was told all her life she would retire at 60, suddenly had to work nearly another 3 years to get her state pension.

      Hi Graham,

Just re-reading your post this morning makes my blood boil.

The over-sixties (ie our age group) have paid so much into the system all through our working lives but we do not have any "clout" at all. We do not seem to have any say about how "our" taxes are distributed. Without being too political here I would like to see a party representing the age group 60-70. Bet it would get a high percentage of the vote and a good turnout of voters.

I have been reading (Saga magazine) about new UK tax rules about savings, it seems we are going to get an additional 'savings interest allowance', so our savings won't be taxed by the bank, we will get interest in full and won't need to apply to get the tax back on our interest any more.

Sounds good to me, and seems quite a generous allowance too - I wonder how long it will last before they start to reduce it though?
