Had my MRI of the head done last friday, the 15th,i was able to see the results online today but it said there was no information available so of course i started worrying. called my neurologist and asked about my results that i was worried when i saw there were no results.. His nurse called me back stating that if anything was wrong then he would have asked to see me earlier and that he would see me may 2nd, she was absolutely no help when i asked her if anything were wrong.

well fast forward 2 hours later that afternoon when his nurse calls me (again) stating he wanted to go over my mri results and could i come in this thursday. well that just kicked my anxiety into a whole other level and here it is 1:45am and i'm STILL awake and worrying...........

    Hi Andraste

I had to wait ages to receive an appointment for an MRI scan and then ages for the results! It's always the same and we all have to go through a worrying period of uncertainty. If you pay for your treatment it's totally different, of course!

Normally, the outcome of results wil only be discussed between the patient and the medical professional who arranged for the tests in the first place. There's always the danger of other people misreading the results and as a result, misinforming the patient.  Now this would be something to worry about!

Hang in there, stay calm and prepare yourself.

    Best wishes. Colin

The MRI is usually done to rule-out a tumor which is unlikely.  If it should occur there are surgeries to remove the tumor and the TN pain would go away.  If not it may show a vein or veins pressing on the nerve which would indicate TN.  Or nothing will show up because veins are so small they do not always come through and you still have TN.  I would not worry about the MRI.  Regardless you just need to take care of the TN pain through medication or out-patient surgery if the medications do not work.  Of course I am not a doctor but this is what I have learned from my own experience with TN.  Good luck and try not to worry!

Hi  - Good luck for tomorrow, I'm also getting my results tomorrow.  I went for another MRI yesterday as they asked me to have some more images taken, I'm not sure what scares me the most, the fact that they may have found the reason for the pain or that they haven't and I have to carry on like this.  I now seem to have Bilateral TN, since getting extremely painful neck cramps which went up  into my scalp.

Try not to worry too much about tomorrow.  From someone who has butterflies coming out of her mouth!

Hi, got mine too, they found the culprit! a blood vessel, so have now been referred to a neurosurgeon to see what happens next.  At least we have had our answers now and both could have been so much worse.
