Not losing weight!!

I had my band fitted nearly 3 weeks ago and am still on the shakes/soups as instructed by my surgeon. Just weighed myself and have still only lost about 8 pounds, am so despondent. Have 8 stone to lose in total. Was it this slow to come off for anyone else?

I think as we have reduced our intake so much our body goes into starvation mode.  Dont worry once your calorie intake is upped when onto mushy foods i think that will help x

As far as I understand, you dont start losing the weight until after the band is filled. I'm 3 and a half weeks post op and have lost 17 lbs on the pre Op diet and post op diet. The weight loss seems to have slowed up a lot But I'm not too worried as I know that the weight loss will start again when the band is filled and I can start to eat normal food again.

    Hi Joanne

I stopped loosing weight on week 3 as well, just started week 5 now. I have lost 14lbs with pre and post op diet. My bariatric nurse said this is normal and I should aim to keep my calories to around 800 - 1000 per day, at the moment I'm having more like 1200 - 1400 calories a day as my stomach has healed and there is no restriction in my band yet. I'm keeping a food diary using my fitness pal app as this will help the Nurse work out how much I need for my first band fill. Once I start getting my band fills I should be able to stick to the low calories without feeling hungry. At the moment you are letting your body heal from the op, once the band has the right amount of fills you will be lossing weight without feeling hungry.

Im 3 weeks post op too.

Have lost 22lb since start of preop diet. No loss this week at all, and really hungry!!

Dont forget the band isnt actually working yet untill first bandfill.

It will all start moving after band fill. Dont be disheartened. X

In my experience, I didn't notice too much difference after my first fill, I have now had 3 and can really feel a difference so don't be concerned if you stop are hungry after your first fill!

      Good luck x

Had my band fitted 24th October last year!

Post op lost just over 3 stone! It's a lot slower than I thought it would be, but rather that than it fall off and I be left with lots of skin!

They say they expect you to lose 2-3 pounds a week xx
