Not sleeping

i need help badly!  I only sleep for 2-3 hours at a time.  I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and was prescribed sertraline and lorazepam (30 day supply),  Could the sertraline be causing my insomnia to be that much worse,  The lorazapem scares me as I know it’s addictive.  Any advice?  I am beyond exhausted and fear   Thanks.

Sertraline for me was the most awful medication. It kept me awake all night and the most horrendous headache every time I closed my eyes. It also upset my stomach giving me diarrhoea

My Gp switched me to Mirtazapine which thankfully for me didn’t give me any of the side effects of Sertraline.

May be worth speaking to your Doctor and perhaps switching your antidepressant. Good luck.

Sorry you are suffering. I’ve been suffering from fear of not sleeping for last 25 years.  Actually sleeping 2 to 3 hours i think is interruption to our 4x 2 hour our sleep cycle.   Ie you are waking alert before sleeping and it wakes you up going into every sleep cycle rather than not. I am now under hypotherapist and natrural therapist for vitamins.  Vitamin B complex and major Vitamin C are key as are magnesium for me.

A key thing that has helped me. 10 or 20 mg amitripline at night to make me drowsy.  If you ask doctor for this and explain you are also taking other measures? It’s used in much higher doses for pain relief but helps better than sleeping tablets as half life is much longer
