Not Sure if I have TN

A few weeks ago i experienced the worse pain in my gums(it felt like my gums) it was like stabs, came and went but it only lasted a few seconds. It happened again a few nights ago then again tonight. it doesn't last long but damn it hurts, i actually hold my face. After the second time it happened i started googling it and I came upon TN, the symptoms sound right but I'm not sure. I guess what i want to know is this how any of you felt and do i just leave it and see if it happens again or do I make an appointment to see a doctor? Thanks for any information you can give me.

Hello sorry to hear about your pain but unfortunately it sounds like TN and this is how it starts coming and going only to get WORST!! YOU MUST ACT NOW MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE A NEUROLOGIST they will want to rule out MS and ask if you ever had Shingles. Then they will prescribe Carbamazepine the best med for TN. If you only have it on 1 side of your face an is feeling shocks and stabbing no MS Or Shingle you are a candidate for MVD SURGERY i suffered for 3 years it was the worst pain imaginable i literally wanted to kill myself but i put my trust in God and held on the Surgery gave me my life back!!! Dr.Lee at penn Med was a God Send and he is the shttz!!! He was the protege of the Dr. Who Created MVD surgery so i was in the best hands and i was literally up and walking around like nothing happened in 2 days! But best rest was 2 months The pain was gone when i woke up! I wish i would have gotten the surgery from day 1 !!! But i guess what doesnt kill you makes you stronger! But for now get the Meds ASAP i needed 2700mg to tame my pain so up the dosage gradually until you feel relief! THAT PAIN IS UNIMAGINABLE........ hope this helps God Bless You.....

Try to find out everything you can about balloons surgery. MVD surgery gave me a stroke it messed up my eyes, I have double vision and a stroke, my head aches mostly every day I have to get cataract surgery because all that mvd cutting up the muscle in the back of my neck, whick caused a large dent in my neck, I can't sleep on my back or side this is what happens when you have MVD 4 TN

So make sure you ask your neuro surgeon aboit all those procedures others here r talking about. if you get to a neurologist tell her/him to send you to a balloon surgeon and then after that you can ask your neurosurgeon to explain

      other procedures.

what I got from MVD; a .stroke, constant headaches,, double vision ,

I will never b able to stop, my 50 medicines zi take them not every day some are as needed

but as needed. I get very jittery as I go thru the day.

medicines get cataract surgery because all this all kind of stuff. I have eye doctors who want to do surgery on my eyes to make them get in line but I am told it might not work, not going to have that one done. happens when you have TN so make sure you ask your neurologist and neuro surgeon tell them to send you to a neuro balloon surgeon then after that you can ask your neurosurgeon to send you to anybody that knows about these other procedure. I was in the hospital from July 27, 2016 to August 8, 2016.

God Bless Us And Keep Us And Give Us Peace

I would start a journal and write when you get your pain and what your experiencing. If it happens again find a Dr. who is experienced with TN. Many doctors and health care professionals are clueless. Your on the right path, knowledge is power research - research. Hope this helps!

Hi Kathy, Yes please go and see your doctor. The pain is really awful, like a live electric wire in your mouth. The first time I felt it I just screamed. You must see someone and have some drugs to help. Good luck and I wish you all the best and good luck.
