Not sure if I should be concerned about this bump on my scalp...

I have a small bump on my scalp that has increased in size and changed in color after first appearing a month and a half ago. Initially I thought it was dry skin and picked at it a few times, causing it to bleed quite a bit. After a couple of weeks I forced myself to stop touching it and since, the bump has grown in size and has changed from a bright red color to a deep red, then to a dark purple, and now currently to a light purple or sometimes brownish bump. It feels firm and has a shine as if it could burst at any moment. I do not feel any discomfort in the area although it does worry me to pass over with a hairbrush.

Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful. I have an appointment scheduled with a dermatologist in a couple of weeks.
