Not sure what's going on

I was diagnosed with antibodies to HSV-1 a few months ago. Weird thing is I've had what I assumed to be a swollen lymph node in the left side of my groin/pubic area. It has been like this for the past 2 months or so and I'm not so sure if it's from HSV. I haven't had any other symptoms aside from this. So no blisters, ulcers or anything of the sort. No pain during urination or any bumps aside from the swelling in the groin area. I haven't been sick or anything either. I'm wondering if it could be a hernia. I don't know if it could be a dermatitis because one day I did see the skin in the area look a bit leathery. But this could be due to stretching the skin I guess. Blood tests have come back normal twice because I was concerned about my hair beginning to fall out due to due unrelated medication. Any and all help is welcomed.

Or you could have extremely mild symptoms of a Type 1 genital infection. Did you receive oral sex recently?

No, I haven't had any form of intercourse since early September. I'm really hoping it's not genital but it sucks anyway to know I have it now. But I'm going back soon to get another check up and see what's going on.

Yeah, you have Type 1 somewhere, so it's just a matter of where, but if it is that mild and non-existent for you, perhaps there's no need to worry about it until it one day pops up, if it even ever does. Not much more you can do, other than avoid kissing/sex if you ever do notice something suspect in either location.
I forget the details now, but did you retest to make sure the first positive IgG was not a freak result? In case you are ever doubtful, there's the (much more expensive) Western blot. Still won't tell you site of infection, though.
A swollen inguinal node is less common with recurrences (just realised you said you tested positive months ago, plus I remember the gist of your story). Can happen, though. So, it could be related, or not related at all. Need other symptoms to definitively determine the location, I'm afraid.
