NOTHING HELPS? After reading all the entries I feel helpless

like there is no hope in sight, I have only been suffering two months and by reading all the entries there doesn't seem to be much in the way of relief. And from what i'm reading things are only going to get worse and that the doctors seem to do little in the way of helping.

It does feel good to know I am not alone and that this is not all in my head which the doctors like to make you feel. They also try to make you feel like its no big deal, but what i'm reading it is a big deal and can really affect your life, which it is doing with me.

I do not really have acid reflux problems, but I read that the symptoms vary slightly from person to person. My symptoms started with burning in the stomach and pain on my right side. I now am experiencing belching, tightness, fullness, bloating, couching when laying on my back, pain laying on my right and trouble breathing on any side.

From all the postings things don't seem like they are going to get any better and not much seems can be done by the doctors with very little support. On top of all this I have Hep C, Fibromyalgia, herniated disc, hypertension, and yes i'm overweight. I am so tired all the time that I haven't the energy for very little of anything. And to add this HH to my list of problems which sounds like it will only gets worst over time doesn't give me much to look forward to in the future.

This sight really did help though, thank you for all the posting, it did shed some light on what I have been experiencing when the doctors gave little in the way of what was wrong with me. Because of my hep C and the pain was on the same side as my liver I just knew it was my liver but all the test they ran kept coming back neg this was so fustrating for me I kept saying to myself it's my liver I know it's my liver but now I see maybe it's not my liver.

    Hi,

I've been suffering for 8 months, in terrible pain, can hardly eat or drink anything without pain coming on. Have just had an endoscopy today and been told I have a hiatus hernia. Feel just like you, really despondant, sounds as if we have to 'live with it' and just like you this is ruining my life. You would think there is more the Drs could do. Take care and just wanted you to know your not alone.

I have all the same symtoms as yourself without the Hep C. I made 3 or 4 trips to my GP and eventually realised myself that the stomach acid may be causing my problems. This was after self diagnosis from the internet - I know Doctors hate this but somebody has to do it.

In fairness to my doctor he started off with antibiotics, moved on to an inhaler (made me worse). I have been given Lansaprozole for the stomach acid (pump inhibitor so I believe) and he arranged for me to see a consultant and have a endoscopy.

I decided that I didn't want to wait weeks so have decided to pay out of my own pocket for this and will be having this done tomorrow. My own doctor feels it is a hiatus hernia.

I also have severe soreness and pain down my arm and throat and also my back. But it is the breathing issues that cause me the most distress. Like you I don't sleep much at night. I find that I wake up choking, heart racing, sweating profusely and have awful dreams. I am actually better sat up leaning on the arm of a sofa and can then at least sleep for a while.

Although overweight (not massively so) a size 16/18. I eat very healthily, NEVER eat takeaways, pizzas or any fast food rubbish. Have never smoked and the last alcholic drink I had was as half a glass of wine on Christmas Day.

Up to these symtoms starting I did over keep fit suitable for my age group, ballroom dancing, pilates, walked the dog 2 miles a day and badminton sometimes.

So wanted to post this on the forum so it will help other people in the same situation.

I went to emergency on one occasion and they told me it was anxiety. I don't agree whatsoever. I didn't have anxiety before these symptoms. I told the doctor at emergency that I thought it was acid coming back but he waived this theory away.

I will have my tests and put another post to let other sufferers know what is going on. By the way the consultation and tests cost me £825.00 but that was my choice. I know not everyone can afford it but I would rather spend this money getting my health back together. To be honest I would get a loan if I had to as my health is very importent.
