Nothing to worry about?

Hi, I had an MRI to rule out MS around 4 weeks ago and received a letter for a neurologist appointment for 2 weeks time. I am wondering if due to the long wait time that there might not be anything to worry about and is just the referal i've been waiting 5 months or if this is normal waiting times for the NHS in Scotland to give you results? It was an A&E doc that referred me for my scan too so my GP claims not to know anything about my results. I've had a CT which the closest thing I received to results was "We're referring you for an MRI".
thanks

I don't think this is a long wait. Don't read anything into anything. You,said rule out MS? You must have had symptoms and something happen to have had CT scan and attend ER. Don't go fretting either as what will be will be and you'll deal with it. If you're having symptoms write them all down for your neuro appt. Good luck. MS diagnosis is not death sentence. 🌈

I am in the US and wait times here are about the same. Try not to borrow trouble ,as hard as that can be. MRI's can give a clearer, more detailed picture according to my Neurologist. Wishing you good health .

Hi, I agree with the other posters, it's a good thing to be referred. I also agree that a record of what's happening to you will be good to have for your appointment. You'll most likely be given a lumbar puncture LP, at some point, if they've found evidence of lesions around your spinal cord or brain (you didn't say what part/s of your central nervous system were MRI'd). LP's are done to look for oligoclonic bands in cerebrospinal fluid, when MS is suspected.
I agree with the others about MS not being a death sentence and that, once got your mind around, it's just about adjusting to a new situation.
If possible, take someone who you trust with you, it's helpful for taking in information/advice.

I forgot to say, given the lumbering nflashyature of the NHS, I wouldn't read anything in to the speed of anything.
