      Thanks Lyn

Yeah it does seem that way.  But better to deal with this now than to have it after my op. I think that would cause even more issues.

Sorry to read that your op has been put back a couple of weeks, hopefully once you have recovered from this cold you will get your op finally done. At the moment I am suffering from a very bad case of lack of confidence, I find myself feeling very sorry for myself, operated side the muscle is aching on the operated side and very tired I am going to try and have a shower today xxxx

      Thank you Maeilyn

It isn't a cold. It is just an infection. Easy to shake off once the antibiotics kick in.

I am sorry you are having a hard time. I had a really bad time after having my first op done in April. I went through hell and back with all the issues I had.

You will get your low days and that is the good thing about this forum. We have all been there and know how you feel.

Sleep is the best healer. That I can promise you You have to remember you have gone through one of the most major ops you may ever go through. It is just short of trauma from a major accident but more controlled. So you just have to pamper yourself a lot and treat yourself.

Maybe start a new hobby to keep you occupird while you heal. You will feel much better for it.

I promise you. You will feel much better in a few more weeks it does knock you for 6.

I have had a very hard time. Much worse than most. But I got over it and even thopugh I am still suffering waiting for my right hiip to be done because it has been collapsed for almost 7 months I know I will have my life back some time soon. Just try and stay positive on your good days. I promise you won't regret it. xx

Achievement for me today, day 6 and I managed the shower on my own feeling shaky for doing it lol but I feel human now, still got some lack of confidence, one thing I do find I am doing is when using the crutches is using my good leg first and operated leg 2nd I know it should be the other way round but ortho if I find it comfortable then I will do how I want lol

If I explained how I have to wash 7 months after my op because I fo not have a shower and still can't get in / out of the bath I think you would either lasugh or be shocked.

Well done on getting your shower. It does make you feel better to have a good wash. I know what you mean about your leg. I kept forgetting to do that after a few days. Are you on pain meds ?

If you are in pain maybe you need a little more or something else to help with the pain. It is still early days for you.

I'm nearly 3 weeks, and can shower on my own, but I shower with the TED stockings on as I am scared to remove them as I don't want DVT because that's what my father died of some 36 years ago.

Then I dry my legs and stockings out with a hairdryer wink

Quite a game, which my fantastic wife (I'd be lost without her) joins in with - I usually say to her in a child-like voice "Mummy, can you dry my legs please", and we have a good laugh together.

Well done on your achievement - consider yourself awarded a gold star for effort.biggrin

Who cares what leg you put forward first, as long as you're not harming the new joint

      Best Wishes,

      Graham X

      Hello dear renee

i am not that worried at least I have got it sorted quick. I will be in hospital for my second ( right hip ) op on December 14 th. Op being done on 15 th. So everything should be fine. Got to phone the secretary  next week to say tablets finished and the infection is gone. It is only tonsillitis at least it isn't a cold.

Hugs go to you too renee hope you are well X

      Hi renee

Have to be strong. Not much I can do about it although was really annoyed the hospital made me wait so long.

I called the secretarys bluff and phone the ward to see if they were taking in hip paitents . They said they had been for over 4 weeks so once I called her bluff she had no where else to go.

I just want out of this pain and to be abel to walk and go out and see the world again. The weather might have a say in that for a while but it won't be long till spring is here again.
