Now the pain begins!

Had my surgery 4 days ago and I was fine until I needed to pass my first BM! Literally no pain at all so I should have guessed it was the calm before the storm. Wow was not prepared at all. It was solid and I just couldn't eject the monstrosity. Was taking stool softeners straight from the hospital and been on them since but obviously didn't do their job or something. I should have been more prepared before the op and eaten fruit and veg for a week. Not that my diet is that bad I drink heaps of water and eat a clean diet.
Managed a few BM with pain and suffering now but still solid, the stinging is unbearable. Feels like I'm gonna faint!

For breakfast I ate bran flakes and added some raspberries or blackberries to it. I eat bananas, apples and pears every day.

Darren today was day 6 for me and I'm the same after every bowel movement. I bought a sitz bath and fill it with hot water before bm. As soon as I finish bm I clean myself and sit straight in the hot water. It's the only thing that relieves the pain for me. If you don't have the sitz bath either start filling the bath when you sit on loo. When you finish just a few inches of water is enough to sit in and calm the stinging x

I have ordered a sitz bath from eBay and it arrives tomorrow hopefully. My shower (I don't have a bath) which has a removable head is a crawl away from the toilet and that has been a god send, I really don't know how I would have gotten through that first BM without out. Needed it for the emense stinging and burning sensation after the second too and wondering how long it's going to be like this as I need to get back to work. So annoyed at the Dr for not informing me of the aftermath as I didn't plan to have a week off work after the surgery, my employer isn't happy of the short notice. When does the burning and stinging sensation subside?
Living on soups, fruit and veg at the moment and as much water as I can drink.

If it's really unbearable some people sit in the water to have their bm. Just don't stay sitting in that water in case of infection. X

Darren it's different for everyone so it's really hard to say how long. I've had a bad day today and I've found the pain pretty intense. My GP advised me today to use sudocreme on my rear just to calm the burning between bm and I've found that good. He's also prescribed me more stool softeners that I pick up tomorrow. He said do not get constipated! My ass feels like its gone through a cheese grater today. Sorry about your boss but you're just going to have to graphically describe how painful it is so he really understands x let me know how you're getting on x

My doc said don't use any cream but he also told me I didn't have to follow a special diet but just increase water and fibre! Is he for real? I used some hydrocortisone cream earlier but it didn't seem to do much, will keep with it and see if it helps. Been twice today, first wasn't too bad and I was thinking blimey im healing then the second hit home that it's only day 5. Pain ebbs away though. I haven't really been taking softners regularly I thought the high fibre diet was for that. Got some senna tablets but I thought they were laxatives to make me go.

I take Metamucil twice a day that's a fibre supplement. All I was given at the hospital was co- senna which contains docusate sodium and sennosides.
