Now what do I do?

Hi people who sit on here. I've just about had enough! I went to see my doctor earlier as coeliac disease has been flagged on one of my blood tests. I have been told to see gastroenterology at the hospital but feel like I'm going round a vicious circle. What do they do to test for this? What do I need to do to prepare for it? They said a camera and biopsies. I am now really fed up. Tried this before and was told this was just IBS. Can anyone please shed any light on this?

Hi Sam if a blood test says you have celiac then I'm surprised they are doing the camera unless making sure diagnosis is correct. When I had colonoscopy I had to take a drink to clear my bowels for camera. Mine cane back IBS. I would happily have celiac and not ibs. If I could cut out gluten and wheat and get no more symptoms I would have a far better life. IBS is a nightmare for me.

Hope you get it resolved try not to worry stress makes it all worse.

Oh really that's really interesting. I think I don't have coeliac disease but am a bit unsure. We're having final tests to rule it in or out. If it's IBS then the doctors will need do something, if it's coeliac disease then the dietitian's and the doctors will need to do something. I think the summer and excess levels of stress have really upset my IBS. Who knows? All I know is I'm sick of feeling ill and not working.

I can totally understand you. I'm only 45, I need to work so we can move to adopt I might then feel part of society, some day. IBS stinks or whatever else this is. Do you know if being so ill makes you depressed? I have been offered antidepressants but refused them in favour of counselling instead. I just want to know why my health is so bad that's all. The summer has wreaked havoc with my IBS and because I've got so ill my doctor has asked for more tests to rule in or rule out coeliac disease. I wish you luck, you wish me luck.

I feel for you, I'll pray for you, you pray for me. I go to a counsellor who specialises in PTSD, which I was diagnosed with years back, she called a pshcoldynamic counsellor, so she deals with emotions on top of your mindset, it's hard to adjust to but I'm really specific, I was raped twice when I was younger so need a different sort of support, but through her support and yoga I am really slowly getting there.

You'll have a colonoscopy. It's an easy process, you'll be sedated but what's challenging is that you'll have to drink some ewww stuff to clean your colon.

    Good luck!

Don't be scared just stay near a toilet when taking the drink. It is the best way to know if there any underlying issues. Hope all goes well.

Thanks Turkey, I've had it before, I took baby wipes with me and used those and not toilet roll. I need to know what this is.

Hopefully it won't be anything. Even if it is celiac I have a friend with kit and as long as she avoids gluten and wheat she has no problems with her stomach. Her life has changed completely for the better since her diagnosis. Good luck let me know how you get on
