If your feeling numbed it could be one of three things..... medication dosage should get adjusted, or medication is its just not working for you. It's the worst feeling. Numb.

hi Nicola, week 3 is far too early to really feel any benefits. You are still in major adjustment stage. By week 7 things should be much improved and if you dont feel pretty good by 10 weeks, then i would definitely talk to your doctor.

Its a long long slow journey with so many ups and downs, you are going to want to give up.

Ive gone from never leaving the house, lying on the couch in my pjs, not eating and basically just existing.....to just having returned from housesitting in another country for a month!

keep going, dont be hard on yourself

and use this forum whenever you need reassurance xx

There is research that suggests there is a normal progression the people go through with anti-depressants, starting with relief from anxiety, then depression, and then anhedonia (inability to feel joy, perhaps the same feeling of being numb). Below is a link to a study that found that. And it has been my experience using Sertraline as well. That numb feeling is very hard to live with. But, it does go away. And check out my post from yesterday (Story of hope and some other thing to try). There are some things that research has found that can improve the effectiveness of SSRIs.
