Numbness and jaggy pain in good leg

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi 6 days post op.  Doing well until good leg went numb with terrible needle like pain from groin to thigh.  Ended up in A&E last night.  Diagnosed nerve nipped during spinal block.  Pain is worse than hip replacement.  Given ibuprofen but not helping and not sleeping.  Any advice appreciated.  Shirley

It happened to me. Will get better, I'm 7 weeks now, not as bad as it was. Worse was in the night, real burning pain.

I'm now 4 days in front of you at day 10. I had the burning pain in heel and right side of foot, both pain levels around 8-9 out of 10. Was told that as the full epidural wears off you will feel certain twinges, tingling and sparkling sensations around your body. Keep taking meds (morphine if required) and do the said exercises. Hi I had a hip Revision op in 2012 and a week after the op I developed severe tingling in my legs and abdomen. I had an MR I scan and was diagnosed with a pinched nerve. After a couple of weeks it just settled down my itself.Hope that things settle down for you.

Hi Shirley, Sorry your in pain !! I would go see neruologist asap! That doctor will be able to explain and give you meds that might help you. I had hip revision last year and i have sciatic nerve damage from the surgery, 15 months later still having pain . I never had any problem with my first total hip replacement at all so i was very surprised . Let us know how you are doing best of luck

Ask them to give you nerve pain medication. Nerve pain is horrific and nothing, not even narcotics can take care of the pain. But there are meds designed for nerve pain.

Did they give you a solution?

    Sorry for your suffering.

Hi Dawn been prescribed gabapentin today so hopefully they will start to help.  Consultant has recalled me on Wednesday for an X-ray and checkup which I'm pleased about.  The pain is horrendous so hopefully get some relief when these tablets start to work.  Thank you
