My father gone through total hip replacement (THR) on 16-June-2021. Its been a month and he can't even sleep due to severe pain in foot . Some times he feel that his foot is burning, sometimes electric shock, numbness and needle like sensation. I have read so many articles and every article show different picture. Now my question is did someone feel same situation after hip replacement surgery ? How much time it takes to recover ? what are the ways to handle this situation? Because if someone can't sleep peacefully what would he do? Thanks. Only the person gone through this situation or someone's whom he/she knows tell me. Thanks

sometimes swelling can cause what your feeling. ice the area and keep leg up. it took my foot over a year to get better., and occasionally it comes back. see a physician who can test for issues you may be concerned about.

He also have a foot drop means clear signs of nerve damage but how much time it will take to recover from these issues and how much time nerves take to heal

I had right hip replacement anterior approach on June 10, 2021.

I noticed bruising below my ankle joint after week one and the sensation of a mild sprained ankle. At my two week appointment, the surgeon seemed amazed that my ankle was bruised and felt sprained. He noted that perhaps it was twisted during the surgery on the table. I wore and continue to wear a elastic bandage as needed, because it often feels like it is still recovering from a mild sprain. I was curious if anyone else has had this issue.

I am not sure this is the same issue as your father, but I do know my ankle is recovering as well as my hip.

My Father's hip joint is perfectly fine. Even doctor told him he will allow him to put weight after 2 weeks but I have studies that these sensations happens because of nerve damage. He also had foot drop but i think he is recovering from foot drop as his fingers started moving upward. But these sensations made him mad because he can't sleep
