Numbness around scar increasing

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi, I'm now 5 months post TRH and I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the numbness around the scar area. I went back to work this week smile and as the week has gone on my new hip has held up but been a bit painfull and that the small area which was numb (near the top of the femur where the top of the stem is) has now doubled in size for some reason.

Another thing is that the scar is sometimes itchy but you cant scratch it because it seems to be under the area of numbness. Sounds crazy I know but only way I can describe it

Any ideas?

Hi my scar is also numb, told it is normal due to the nerves being cut. Also experience itching which I presume is healing of tissues. However I am only 4 weeks post op so expect these things. A bit disheartening if I am to have it 5 months on. Top of my femur has been painful over the past 2 days so I have been taking it easy. Guess when you see what was done it is not surprising. I went on uTube to watch an operation and jolly glad I did not do it pre op. Has helped me to understand the aches and pains

Ann the nerve are never cut.

What the surgeon cut in posterior is the muscle and tendons.

normal for area of incision to be numb and itchy.

That's normal. I am 7 months post op and had those experiences. Itchy yes even though is under skin,I still scratch and goes away.

All of that you're exwperiemcimg, will,go away but maintain the precautions until one year.

    Hi

i am just 5weeks post op and parts of my bottom are numb where the stitches are.also I want to scratch it but don't as I believe it's healing.  I just keep using bio oil and hope it will soften the area and get some feeling back. You may have stitches under the skin waiting to come to the surface. I would get this checked out.
