I have numbness too. Usually after eating and clog of nose... its ear infection rather than anxiety. I have anxiety too for the past years.

    Hello luis17,

This may be something totally different but I will share just in case because stress can bring this on too. My ex husband woke up a few years back and his one side of his face was all droppy just like a stroke. We were so concerned. He heard while randomly talking to someone about how a cold laser therapy at a chiropractor could help. It was actually bels palsy. The symptoms were that of a stroke and he was in his early 40's so we thought that's what it was..it was actually bels palsy. He is 100% cured from it. Numbness and droopyness on one side of his face. I hope that isnt what has happened, but if so...there is a cure!

Hi, firstly glad to hear your hubby is back to normal and it wasn’t anything serious.  I know you wrote this some time ago but I just have a question....I woke up last night with tingling and numbness in the left side of my bottom lip and accross the bottom left side of my face. No dropping on that side yet but I’m thinking I have Bell’s palsy, did you husband get the dropping and numbness at the same time or was it one or the other first? I saw the doctor this morning who has gave me steroids but wasn’t convinced that’s what it was so was unsure about taking them but after reading your comment I’m thinking it might be that. I’m just went to worse case sanario and assumed stroke too but it’s naturally the first thing you think of.

I had the same thing a few years ago: nubmness and tingling on my face (cheek, lips, tongue), arm and leg. I saw a neurologist back then and nothing was wrong. She said it was likely to be an anxiety symptom.

I also have migraine and sometimes the aura also feels like my skin is a bit numb, it's funny because it does have sensation, yet at the same time it feels sort of numb. Hard to explain.

I have the same thing and it's really frightening. I met with my neurologist (he blamed it on anxiety) but scheduled a brain and neck MRI just to be sure. Did you have an MRI back then?

I used to feel numbness on Right side of the face and left side of the foot.  I had these symptoms for almost a year. I was suspecting some major neural disorder but its because of the stress. The following factors were resulting in it:

    1. Excessive reading on the Kindle

    2. Playing chess after stress of office.

    3. Fighting sleep and remaining awake for long times.

And yes, when I could distract myself, for ex by swimming, the symptoms would disappear.

After addressing the above 3 stupid things I was doing the symptoms disappeared completely in 2-3 weeks. Then out of curiosity I played chess in bus for like 15 mins and the numbness in right side of face and left leg returned...so I can confirm its because of mental stress in my case. Just taking life easy, exercising and good night's sleep will help!

The chess connection is interesting.  I find that when I play chess (i.e. distract myself), the numbness goes away.  Often, when I finish a game, the numbness comes on.  Chess isn't the only activity after which the numbness comes on.  It can also come on after any activity and even during certain activities.

My condition may be completely different.

Exercising seems to help, but its effect wear off after a couple of hours.
