Numbness post ankle ORIF surgery

Hi

I am 8 weeks post op after fracturing and dislocating my left ankle. I had a plate and pins in. I was none weight bearing for 6 weeks and have just got a boot for another 4 weeks. I am doing really well but have noticed that part of my ankle and one of my toes are numb. Is this normal? Does the numbness go? I'm seeing my Consultant next week but thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone else had experienced this? Many thanks

I am 6 months post ORIF for a pretty severe ankle dislocation and tib/fib fractures. Top of my foot is numb, however, hurts like crazy to pull a sock over it. I have skinny ankles so when swelling is down first thing in the morning 2 screw heads are very prominent. They are so tender I cannot tolerate even a sock touching them. I still have quite a bit of pain which I did not expect this far out from surgery. I return to work (finally) in two weeks. I am a nurse and work 12 hr shifts on my foot. I am so nervous that I won't be able to do it. Doc says he can take the screws out but only after I finish my anticoagulant treatment. Did I mention I suffered a P.E. a month after surgery? 57 years old and had never broken a bone. This recovery has been long and difficult, and I am still not back to normal. Physical therapist said to expect about an 85% return to baseline. My heart goes out to all of you who are having pain and numbness. I have heard that CBD oil, which can be found at GNC works very well. I don't think I can use it given my profession though. Heating pad on the sciatic nerve and soaking my foot in Epsom salt helps me. I love reading everyone's helpful comments and suggestions.
