Nurofen +. Stomach damage

Can anyone tell me if my stomach will heal itself when I get off these pills. I'm on taper plan and will be clean in about 5 weeks. I used to take over 60 a day but have cut down to about 40 in recent years. Will I ever be able to go for a few drinks without vomiting up bile and having horrific headaches again??

Are you doing this yourself ?  Without a medical professional"s advice ?

You need to ask for liver & kidney function tests, if just one alcoholic drink causes you to vomit bile, that's not normal.  The damage to the organs comes from overuse of ibuprofen & paracetamol, not from codeine.  Have yourself checked out, btw you are still taking way too many if using 40 pills per day, good lord!

Hi Mary, I will get myself checked out once I am clean. I am sick if I have more than 5 or 6 pints which is about once a year, I don't really drink otherwise . I was just wanting to know if I would be able to have a social drink with friends now and again when I'm off the pills .

That's good news jamie, run the *occasional social drink* bythe doctor.

BTW why wait to see the doctor, you will not be the only patient he has ever run across who *got into trouble with medication*.  I am sure even he will tell you he sees many & will be pleased that you took steps to stop.  Codeine is not really a

    significant addiction drug, like heroin

or even cigaretts, it is actually considered low level addiction potential so you may be pyschologically dependent & not physically dependent.

Nevertheless good luck you ll be free soon.
