Nurofen taper plan lapse

Having really bad day and am ashamed to say I've went off rails a bit. I was down to 8 pills 3 times a day but I've just taken 20 in one go. Day started off bad and got worse and worse. To cap it all I got caught speeding this morning and will have another 3 points on licence. I feel better now the sweats and stomach cramps have stopped. I'm going back on taper plan tonite and hopefully this is a blip. I take my hat off to those of u who manage to go cold turkey and stop completely. Does anyone have coping mechanisms they use when having a bad day

I find it so hard, I managed 2 days without codeine and then went back on it, I feel for you I really do, I had 8 this morning instead of my usual 16 but I am also taking a supplement called LDPA i suggest you read up on it as it helps

I will read up LDPA when I get home. Have you done a taper plan before. It's hard because it's been a way of life for 16 years for me but I'm desperate to get clean and live normal life

I have been trying and tried cold turkey, DLPA for me really cuts the cravings and elevates mood, it coverts to dopamine and helps

Hi, is DLPA available in health food shops. How long have you been trying to get clean?

Health food shops I'm in the UK and get mine from Holland and Barrett, I've been working on it again for a few weeks

Ok thanks for that, I'll give it a try. I don't suppose you know of anything that helps with stomach ache you get from the ibuprpfen

Prayer! The likelyhood is it has caused gastritis which is an inflammation of the stomach lining, omeprazole from the GP will help if you can see them, also tell them about the addiction they may be able to prescribe pure codiene phosphate for you, need to be honest with them though.

Ok thanx. Gonna give doctors a miss I went before and told them about addiction and he laughed and said its impossible as the amounts of codeine are so small. He then told me to go to local bookstore and buy a book on promoting self esteem and motivation then come back in six months once I'd read it. GPs here are a joke. Anyway good luck and thanks for your help

You need a second opinion there, after three days a tolerance builds to any dose however small it is. The ibuprofen your putting in to your system can cause an ulcer which can create major problems, last year I had stomach cancer and had most of it removed and it started as gastritis which started off because of anti inflammatory medication for my fractured shoulder. Please get a second opinion. I was lucky and I have also lost a lot of weight as a result 17st in total.
