oatmeal

I have had this on and off for most of my adult life, and I'm now 59! I've spent a fortune on creams etc. The only thing that has helped was told to me by a dermatologist a few years ago. Get some (uncooked) porridge oats (oatmeal) put inside an old pair of tights, tie off the end, and put in a warm bath. Squeeze the juice out and soak in the bath for a while. Do this nightly. The other advice was to wear boxing gloves at night.....doh

You say helped, in what way?

Oatmeal is used in products that treat dry skin, such as Aveeno, and the milky substance that comes out of the oats when you squeeze them is the purest form I guess. I'd be interested to see if anyone else finds it helpful

Actually that doesn't really answer the question does it? I was less itchy for quite some time but it did come back eventually. A strong steroid cream from the dermatologist also helped in the short term but I am reluctant to use it too frequently because of the skin-thinning problem with long term use. Last time I went to my GP he said \"Yes, I've got it too, it's a bugger isn't it?\" lol

I have sufferd from P Ani for many years tried everything but it didn't work. Saw Doctors, Consultants etc and they said I had to live with it. I then read once I should use an infant bulb syringe enema.

After you have been to the WC use the enema to remove any remaining stool. Leaving the stool can cause the irritation. If you feel the itch coming back during the day use the enema to clear the lower bowel. It's been a revelation and has made my life bearable once more. Try it, as it may help you. Regards.
