Sometimes I feel muscles weak / loose around top inner leg and it actually hurts to weigh bear so I limp for a bit - 2 years after op and yes I do walk a lot - have cocker spaniel! Is this common?

    Dear Tazzy

If you are still limping then I would say that is far from normal based on my own experiences and the general experience of others.

For many people who have had a replacement hip they were walking badly and compensating before the surgery. One of the major errors IMO is to walk with just one support after hip surgery so even at this late stage I suggest the following

    1. Pick up a pair of arm crutches and really concentrate on walking well without any link and a good powerful gait.

    3. Check your walk by looking at yourself in shop Windows.

    4. If you are still having difficulty then have a chiropractor check you over because it is more than likely that your frame/back is out of true.

    Good luck, Richard

I should have alSo said that in addition to walking it would be sense to continue your muscle strengthening exercises.

Oh no, that doesn't sound so good. I am two years post-op, and not limping any more, in fact my wife complains about the speed I walk at now when we're out together lol.

Tazzy that doesn’t sound right. I would either see your GP or see your surgeon. I’m just over two years post op and don’t get this either.
