Occipital neuralgia after mvd

Did anyone end up with occipital neuralgia after your MVD surgery for hemifacial spasms? Did your surgeon do anything to help with pain? How long did it last? Thank you, I'm suffering

    Yes, lasted about a week and started subsiding thereafter. Went about 10 days with little to no sleep due to the discomfort on my neck, skull, back of my head, my eyes and any movement of my neck would send a sharp pain. He'll ish week but I'd go through it again. I never brought it up to my doctor so no medication other than ibuprofen and grunting, but I'm old school lol.

      Thank you so much for responding Ruben! I had my surgery on July 26 and STILL have the pain. Went back to my surgeon last week for it. He gave me 3 shots in base of nerve that did NOTHING! I also wanted him to see and document my right eye is blinking like I never had the MVD surgery. He acted like both were normal and sent me in my way. You are the only person that responded to my question so I am really grateful. Thx again, Carla
