My brother had constipation related issues since 6-7 years. recently he started having some tightness and pain in abdominal. seen doctor..and went for some faecal calprotectine test. occult blood detected in stool.what is to worry about here ? anybody can please reply what exactly it mean ?

Sorry to hear about your brothers problems, and of course blood in pooh is scary to think about, but from what I have read about these tests its just an initial investigation to help doctors decide next tests and checks. Hope he doesn't have to wait too long for a proper diagnosis and some relief.
It might be worth him keeping a food and how he's feeling diary just in case the are some foods making it worse. He can then feed it back to doctor. Anyway good luck
