Hi just wondered if anyone else has gone through this process I work for Norfolk county council education I was told last week in an informal meeting that I would be seen by occupational health and then later seen by an independent Dr I signed giving my permission to get all my medical records . Yesterday I had a phone call to say they had an appointment at 2 so off I went was seen by a Dr who had none of my medical records just spoke to me wasn't given any kind of examination at the end if our talk which involved me telling my journey over the last two years he said that he couldn't say that I would nt be able to work again therefore I would be entitled to the pension his main focus was on the fact that when asked did I like my job I replied I loved it I was heart broken that I am now unable to do the job and have now been off work since the middle of December 2015 he just said its good you love your job once your stress levels are reduced you will be able to go back to your job or they will find something else for you to do I told him their wasn't any other jobs within the school and my rheumatologist had said I would not be able to cope with a 8 hr day probably struggle to work at all he had no knowledge about fibromyalgia no surprise there but I'm just agarst and fed up being treated like an idiot I don't know what happens next he told me to involve my Union and they could fight on my behalf to come to some form of deal with my employer why dose it have to be a fight facts are facts medical reports would have back up my situation health wise so why were they not optioned any one have any ideas ?

You just can't win I've always been honest about everything i also had with me my PIP assesment written report which I was awarded with a mobility component he said he didn't need to see that he obviously has no idea how hard it is to get this and the report they send back is very detailed I also had my pain management records which he also declined to look at good luck

I had the same thing in the end my GP gave me a certificate to say I would not be able to return to work. I do know it depends on you age? Would your head be able to give you shorter hours this may make a difference. Good luck

Hi Tina. Please don't hold your breath while waiting for them to give you early retirement. I went through this in 2012 when my contract was terminated by my employer (NHS).

It took me 2 and a half years to get them to give it to me.

I hope that it doesn't take you that long to get yours.

    Take care. Janet
