Hi guys I hope all is well ive been on sertraline for 5 days 50mg moving up to 100mg Friday. My thoughts are crazy and non stop, and have been for weeks. I was on Citalopram 6 weeks before and changed over. Will this pass? Whats the best dosage? I guess no one can say how long it last. Thank you so much

Can I ask why you come off citalopram? I' m the other way round had to swap from sertraline to citalopram as couldn't take the side effects. It made me feel worse and gave me OCD type compulsions as well as the thoughts. Mine caused by zopiclone withdrawal think the meds can take a while to kick in I know it makes you feel awful but the meds do seem to help lot people.

Hi I hope you are well. I had terrible side effects on citalopram, It brought my obsessive thoughts out and compulsions which I don't think i've ever had. I was just was really anxious about life before the meds. Anyway I hope this gets better for us...Its so horrible

Sorry to hear that sounds as if you had the same reactions I had on the sertraline. I never had compulsions before either. Few people have said swapping meds can mess things up for a little while , I have recently upped to 10mg and again anxiety racked up a bit but think it seems normal when you change dose. Different ones seem to suit different people hope you soon improve but as the other post says can take a while. But you aren't alone feeling like this hope you get better results with the sertraline and things improve.

Hi Hampton, yes, I have my OCD under control and still pick up things sometimes lol...on the floor. It's because I find that OCD people tend to be organized freaks. We have a system and we like things a certain way. We hate it when our system is messed up or things are incongruous. But yes, whenever I go through an attack, I noticed I pick my head a lot! Like I'm looking for coins in my hair such that I peel at my head and get my scalp bleeds. I did it and wasn't even aware of it until hair started falling off.

But once the med kicks in, it will reduce both your obsessive thoughts as well as your compulsions. You let a lot of things go and it is much easier and your mind won't linger on bothersome things. Please try not to freak out. We've all gone through this or are going through this. I once couldn't function at all and now I'm loving my life, for the most part, I can function, think, do things, God is awesome! You will get there, too, once you've found the right med and it kicks in!

Hi.. I had THE WORST intrusive thoughts 5 weeks ago. They were absolutely horrific and to the point I had to ask my partner to remove sharp things from the house as I was terrified I was going to hurt myself or her without wanting to! The constant anxiety was overwhelming and I felt like I was going crazy. What kind of person has such bad thoughts, I must be sick etc. It doesn't help with how you're feeling right now but they WILL GO! Mine have gone 100% within nearly 4 weeks of starting Sertraline and yours will too. Remember they're just thoughts xx
