Ocd parasite paranoia

Does anyone else get intrusive thoughts about threadworms? How do you deal with it? I've treated myself three times in my life and I don't think I've ever had them.

You’ve treated yourself? As in without a doctor diagnosis??

No, I spoke to my doctor and he said if I take ovex incase I do have them it won't have any harmful effects if I don't. I'm talking three times in 8 years. My intrusive thoughts happen daily... I dont compulsively treat it.

Hi from reading your name I'm thinking you are in contact with horse's on a regular basis, if so is this the reason you think you have worms?? No taking the medication to eradicate them want do harm as such but if you definitely don't have them then you need to get the route cause sorted.

It was part of the reason but they're species specific. The root cause? I have ocd and am scared of contamination from parasites... I was asking if anyone gets the same type of ocd and how they deal with it.

Oh contamination ocd. What a found works best for OCD is Exposure and response prevention therapy ERP. Best done with a therapist that specializes in it. I personally have Pure O OCD, just the obsessions and mental rituals and it’s exausting with a bunch of intrusive thoughts. I currently take 200MG of Zoloft and I think it’s doing the trick and ERP. Good luck
