Odd browser behaviour today?

Anyone else having problems with the site today?

My browser (both Chrome and MS Edge) is not clearing down the old posts that I have read ....... a bit strange, it was OK very early this morning.

    Hi, Graham:

    I haven't noticed those things that you mentioned, but yesterday, it took a while for my typing to show up! And today, things are flashing - backgrounds - as I navigate the site.

    Mahalo for your own very helpful website, especially the area on painkillers.

    Hi - had a problem yesterday where posts werent posting and screen keeps flashing today - am using safari on an ipad

    Hi Graham,

    I often have problems on this site when I use my ipad but not when I use my laptop and chrome browser.   Earlier though, this website would not load - I thought it might be a server problem.

      I wonder if they were 'upgrading' it......... causing me some real grief - making it almost unusable because of the time to get to each new message now.

    yeah, me too - I got "ERROR page not available" responses and upon signing in it kept telling me to put @ between - which was already done ....

    Also Chrome and Internet Explorer -

    a bit better today

      something else I just noticed : delayed delivery of posts -

      received one 5 minutes ago that had : sent 15 hours ago ?????

    I am findint that if I open a notified string in a new tab, then try to click the 'mark as read' button, it gives an error - very strange behaviour that definitely did not happen before as my main way of clearing unread posts is to open a load of them in new tabs.

    It was OK on 6th April at 05:00

    Yes, I was on at that time eek

    In the afternoon when I got home, it was displaying this odd behaviour and error messages.

    Hi all,

    There were two separate issues with the site yesterday both of which have now been fixed. There was also an issue this morning with certain ads which have now been blocked so everything should be back to normal. Let me know by reply if there are still issues.

      Except .... I am still getting error messages when I press 'mark as read' in the 'see all notifications' page.

      The message is "Unexpected error (404 : not found)"

      Hi Graham,

      I had another thought and this is not a bug but expected behaviour. If you are on the notifications page (or in user panel) and open them in new tabs by using Ctrl/click this marks them as read at that point as if you had followed the link from an email. If you then try to mark as read on the first tab this is why you get the error. If you open them as above on new tabs but then just refresh the notifications page they will all be "read".

      If it wasn't doing this before that was probably because there was an issue with the "Mark all as read" link was broken but has now been fixed. 

      Hope this makes sense.

      Hi Alan,

      I was just in looking at my notifications and used the Mark as Read icon. It did remove some of them but then showed new notifications on the small menu box. When I clicked there several delayed notifications reappeared. And ... so I refreshes as you suggested. Sadly when I went back to the larger version of the notifications, they were back and the option to Mark as Read was no longer available. It also feels as email notifications are messed up - I seem to get a lot of duplicates and ... not sure why some end up in my Primary folder versus othrrs in the Updates folder (Gmail). I use a Samsung tablet most of the time (still cannot get to my desktop very often).

      Since I have your ear ... is there anyway to distance the (bloody) ad for Obasan from the active writing screen .. it activates all too easily (esp when trying to use Delete to get rid of repeats inserted by the system at times).

      I am getting better at avoiding the ad but it is truly a nuisance.

      However ... please do not take these as major criticisms, more in the nature of info to improve a brilliant forum which helped me keep sane over ten last months. Thank you for all you do with this forum ...no easy task with such a range of users and I am sure this is only one of many responsibilities. . So ... a very sincere thanks.

      That's it !    Well done Alan, I was always having to mark them as 'read', but now don't have to.  biggrin

      I do seem to still have a lot of threads that have been read when I click on 'You have new notifications'.  Otherwise, all OK.
