Odd Convulsions when trying to relax

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hello,

Over the past 2 years, whenever I try to relax to sleep my body convulses with the epicenter being at my stomach and lower back. I can only sleep between 12 and 8. My

cortisol levels are fine, no sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome.

Does anyone have experience or ideas what this could be?

    Hi Ryan,

It does sound a bit like anxiety. However, there's not really enough information in your post for anyone to make any suggestions.

You say you "can only sleep between 12 and 8". Does that mean between midnight and 8am or the other way round? And do you sleep for the whole eight hours or just part of this time?

You say your cortisol levels are OK, which suggests you've consulted a doctor over this. What did the doctor say?

between 12 and 8am. The doctors are a clueless they just prescribe lunesta which works, but I am operating

on such a large sleep deficit, while being incapable of sleeping during the day, or hours othen than 12 and 8am.

    Hi Ryan,

I'm still having a bit of a problem understanding this. If you're sleeping between midnight and 8am, I don't understand how you can have a sleep deficit.

Like you I am confused about the 12 to 8 sleeping. That would be eight  hours of sleep what most people would dream of! I’m lucky to get 5 hrs sleep  😴

    Hi, Ryan,

You sure have confused some folks here. smile

I can only sleep during the night, like a reverse vampire. smile

I can't fall asleep during the day no matter how tired, and it's a big problem. When my night sleep gets compromised, I am unable to make up for it during the day, I have to wait for the next night to, hopefully, sleep well. When insomnia hits me really bad, as is the case right now, I get in a vicious cycle of night after night of 5, 6, 7 hours , never enough to feel fully rested, and I can never make up for it until my normal sleep returns. And yes, I operate on a huge sleep debt then. Is that what is happening to you, too? Or do you simply mean that you can't sleep in any other time except 12-8 due to external factors - work obligations and such?

Anyway, I agree with lily that it sounds like anxiety, though you should provude some more info.
