Hi all,
have been given contradictory advice re the benefit or otherwise of trying oeostapath or/and physiotherapy for CS.
Some say it makes things worse and can cause more damage.
What do u think please ?

Physio may be ok, osteopath, I'm not sure, lets not forget here that we are dealing with the spine , a very delicate and important part of our bodies, maybe I'm just a scardy cat, but, I wouldn't let anyone touch my neck. When I did see a physio he told me there was nothing he could do for me, and referred me to the pain clinic
Have you been to a pain clinic Tony??

I have tried them all, physio, ostepath and sports massage-cost a fortune. The only one that works for me is a chiropractor. I visit her every 6-8 weeks, although I have CS I refuse to let it interfere with my life so I still have horses which involves heavy lifting which severely aggravates the condition, which is why I have to visit on a regular basis. If I was good and avoided anything which pulled at my neck I am sure I wouldnt have to go so often.
It is the only treatment that stops the headaches, the prescription painkillers and anti-inflammatories take the edge off but the underlying pain remains
WARNING: I have gastritis, caused by long term use of anti-inflammories for a previous back injury, I wasnt told that this was a common side affect and now there are certain things I can't eat and can't drink any alchohol-just be careful

I have just started going to a physiotherapist who is also a qualified acupuncturist; so as well as some gentle massage and manipulation he also sticks needles into me.
Seriously though, I had acupuncture for the first time last week and pain wise I did get some relief, even if it was for a short period of time. I am going to continue going for at least 3 more sessions to give it a chance and hopefully things will improve.
As far as the physio goes, I was very anxious when he started to manipulate my neck, but he had previously carried out a thorough examnation of me, seeing exactly where the pain was and what I could and could not do. I feel that so long as you can trust your physio and that the treatment is gentle you will be OK.
Hope you decide to try it.
