OEstrodose Estradiol 0.06% vs Oestrogel what are the differences in effectiveness ?

I would really like any feedback of ladies who may have used the above Oestrogen gels and have seen differences between to the 2 please. I have read on a different forum that Oestrogel is much thicker and therefore much more expensive compared to OEstrodose that is thinner and runnier ?

I hav been prescibed OEstrodose.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Elaine,

i was prescribed Oestrogel after seeing a gynecologist to last me 3 months and then was able to get my prescription from the NHS and did start to notice a difference. You are right the Oestrogel has a stronger smell and was certainly thicker, whereas the Oestrodose appeared to be much thinner and did not seem so effective. I asked my lovely pharmacist if she could get hold of the Oestrogel and did managed to do this for me. A special note had to be put on my repeat prescription so that was the only one I got. The gel is the better than patches as I have now become allergic to the glue.Joy xxx

      Hi there Joy,

Thanks for coming back to me. It was only when I posted a similar question in another forum did I discover this variation. Also there had been problems with restocking in the UK so it seems Oestrodose was being given as an alternative. I managed to get the last canistor last weekend. Yes it is much thicker and seems better quality. so im now on day 3 of using. Many women who responded complained that Ostrodose was ineffective and brought back their symptom considerably. I will be making sure in a 2 weeks I ask my gp for a repeated prescription and get on the case with making sure I get a supply well in advance. Generally how have you found Oestrogel and has this helped all your symptoms if you don't mind sharing Xx

I certainly found more relief in the beginning when I was given oestrogel than the Oestrodose. After that my symptoms certainly returned and stayed with me for approx 6 months. Periods started coming more frequently once again and the return of PMT, I even started having burning tongue symdrome which only now appears to be settling since started back taking the Utrogestan progesterone tablet daily. The only bind using the gel over patches is you have to use it daily which can sometimes be a pain when you are tired as you have to wait for it too dry. Certainly felt more settled on it when I used the UK version and thinks it the best choice. Good luck xxx
