Off Seroxat 2 years, tried other ADs, ok to go back to Seroxat ?

Hi all, I'm relatively new here but I thought i would throw a question out. I took Seroxat 20mg successfully for 13 years before it apparently seemed to stop working. Since then I've tried a number of other anti-depressants with no success at all. It's been 2 years since I last had seroxat, I'm currently weaning off mirtazapine. I read somewhere that if you had already taken a medicine (eg seroxat, SSRI etc) then going back on to it a second time can be problematic (although I don't remember why or where i read this information). Does anyone have any experience about being on Seroxat for a long time, coming off it and then going back onto it ? thanks for reading !

Hi I have been on Seroxat for 25 years, after about ten years I was talked into trying St Johns Wort, coming off the Seroxat was horrible and the St J W didn't help then I had to go throught the horrible weeks getting the Seroxat back into my system, I started on 20 mg then 30mg every change is horrible for a week and just a few weeks ago I had a bad down spell so am now  getting up to 40 mg I take two twenty mg it's around two weeks now but I am hopeing to get a bit better than I am now. I see no reason why you shouldn't go back on Seroxat I hope it works for you anyway good luck. Best wishes Mike.

Hi, I've been on Seroxat for 15 years but have twice come off them to try alternatives (Venlafaxine and Citalopram).  I've had no problems going back on Seroxat (its the coming off thats the problem).  Seroxat seems to have lost its efficacy - or perhaps i've just got used to them and not found a suitable alternative to keep my anxiety and depression in check.  Good luck.

    Hi there,

I am at exactly the same point as you right now!

I took Seroxat in the 90s, no side-effects, started working after 10 days and were great. So few problems I can't even remember when I stopped taking them, maybe 3-4 years later. My ex-wife said I was a little moody at that point but thats all.

I have recently come off Citalopram, only took them for around 10 weeks and every aspect was horrendous. Even now over a month since I stopped completely, I don't feel right at all.

I asked the Doctor for Seroxat and I have them sitting there, haven't took one yet.

I was wondering the same as you, shouldn't they be okay now if they were okay then???

    Good luck all
