Hi, I really hope people are still reading these! Ive been off sertraline 50mg (taken for 9 months) cold turkey for about two weeks now and I have to say I am suffering. I feel like Ive got the flu and Im anxious all the time and although my sex drive has returned, my sleep pattern is messed up and im staying up all night and sleeping through the day. Im crying at absolutely nothing and keep feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. The brain zaps aren't helping either. Any advice or anyone out there to lend an ear whilst I get this horrible drug out of my system? Im finding it hard to talk to friends and family about it as I feel they don't understand.

This drug needs to be titerated very slowly it doesn't just 'get' out of your system when you stop taking it. Your nervous system is in shock and chaos results with withdrawal effects as you describe. Search this site for the thread, sertraline withdrawal does it go away.
you will see that 10% tapering is for most people the only safe way to withdraw from this drug. It gives your brain receptors time in between each cut to adjust thereby avoiding the nasty and often prolonged w/d sypmptoms.
i would recommend reinstating to 25 mg until you have stabilised (usually takes a month at least) and then taper using the 10% method.
you have to do this safely, good luck

I came off it like this before and never had this many problems, it's more the anxiety and lack of sleep that I'm getting irate about. As I haven't had any in two weeks I sort of don't want to take it again and have it back in my system, im hoping the side affects will stop soon?
