Officially taller for life !!

Posted , 6 users are following.

Saw podiatrist today who confirmed I am 5 mm taller in good leg for life . Got sets of inserts for shoe . It doesn't sound like much but it feels a lot and feels different with the insert in the good side to balance me out . So there we have it ... the potential for leg

Discrepancy is quite real as a side effect . Even tho it looks a tiny bit I can really feel it . So that's that sorted !

You'll feel it less over time. Our original legs are also different lengths - it's just that we grew up with them that way so we don't know any different. It's hard for me to tell because I have an ankle that needs surgery so I am not very mobile still, but my physio has me walking around the house in "barefoot shoes" which are like skintight slippers that are the next best thing to actually walking barefoot as they feel the same. Apparently walking barefoot helps our bodies to adjust to the new parts. It takes time but she says it will happen if people persevere. Shoes, she tells me, get in the way because they make our feet into positions that they aren't intended for - even sensible shoes!

So pleased you got some answers. I was told a long time ago by GP and a physio that I had leg length discrepancy. Long before hip replacement.

My surgeon disagreed and proved to me that there was no difference in my leg length.

So Hazel onwards and upwards with our journey to recovery.

I had a different pain today. Right down my op side of femur. Painful this morning and disappeared as the day went on.

Really weird this recovery. Love and hugs Sandra xx

    hi hazel,

I am not sure what to say here .... 5 mm is not much and, like Beth already mentioned, originally our legs are different lengths to begin with .. if not structure wise, due to the way we walk and our posture there will be some difference ..

My legs still feel like the tinman's at times = walking is stiff - there is no fluidity, so to speak ...

Hopefully the insert will make you feel more balanced -

do you still have pain because of the LLD?

    big warm hug

    renee
