Alrready had scope 6 months ago which showed barretts went today to re check as my swolling becoming difficult and horse.

Got right in had tube half way down throat and bang, panic attack had to take it out. The initial diagnosis was another check in 3 years and she said she could see it today but it is unlikely within 6 months it would have changed very much but advised that i have a lot of acid right up to my mouth, I need to go sort aniexty and then get the scope again.

I feel such a fool but not need to figure out how to stop all this acid.

Anyone any idea;?

      Hi Mirela,

I have cut fast food right down which was hard as it was all i eat, but my belly is rock solid with gas and acid. I will try Aloe Vera.

Are you aware if gas spreads to other parts of your body such as chest. Can it burn or affect other organs such as heart liver and kidneys? thanks

I just had my follow up endoscopy for Barretts two weeks ago, and they put me out for it.  My first one, a year ago, was done during a colonoscopy, so there was no question I would be out.  I would think after that experience with the panic attack, the doctor would recommend that you be out for the next one.  If not, can you find another gastroentologist who will put you to sleep?  Not sure what optiuns you have with your insurance.

I assume you are doing the usual recommnendations for acid control:  raised head of bed, no eating within 3 hours of bed, acid reduction diet(FODMAP or a modified form of it), and perhap an H2 blocker  like Zantac used for two weeks, then off for two weeks, then on again, etc.  The PPIs are very dangerous for long term use, and a natural approach is better, but an on/off schedule with an H2 blocker still allows your system to create some acid to ensure proper food breakdown of food.

    Hello tambdy,

1st of all, take only alkaline water. There are so many different brands that you can choose from at the stores. Cut down all wheat products or as much as you can. Preferably eat only non gluten foods. No coffee or chocolates.

I am on homeopathy: Lilium Tigrunum 1m, Femme Vitale.... 3 tablets each a day

Try drinking warm drinks with your food and a glass of warm water when you wake up before you eat. Try to stay away from iced drinks.

Try to be relax overall. Massage your stomach and abdomen.

The change of diet is helping me but I really don't know if it is actually helping me inside. Will be having my next endoscopy in January 2015. Last one was this year in January.

    Hope that helps!
