Oh the pain in my leg-- I need advice

I was awaken very early this morning with horrible pain in my lower left leg and ankle. I have a lot of pain in my body from sources other then PMR but nothing involving my left leg so this has come as a shock. My first and most logical thought was most likely that it was a PMR pain since I dropped my dose this past Sunday. But that does seem a long time ago and it's just one leg. There is no swelling and as i said it is in the leg as much as the ankle do I don't really think it's a joint thing. I did have a very stressful day yesterday. I took my pred about 3 hours ago and it still hurts like h###. So could this be PMR or should I go see my doctor? Please help, I'm am in so much pain. Maybe I should take more pred and see what happens.

Can't give you any advice I'm afraid.  Just check with your doctor that it isn't thrombosis!

Yes - go and see your doctor. That isn't typical PMR-type pain and self medicating with more pred isn't a good idea until you have a better idea what it is. Could it be the achilles tendon?

It's feeling a lot better now but it still hurts like hell. But it is now mostly my foot rather then my leg. I think I will see my doctor. Thank you Eileen for your opinion. I am in a miserable state.

Well I called my doctor and told them what was going on and although she was very sympathetic the doctor had no openings today. She offered for me to speak to the nurse then accidentally hung up on me when she transferred me. So rather then call back I just made the decision that if things don't get better soon or if they get worse I'll go to the ER. I'm fairly confident it is not a DVT because I've had one before and my calf I is not involved. This is mostly the front of my leg, my shin and foot.

ok ,I dont have an answer, but one day when they tried a steroid burst, 5 days on 40 mg , ( before dx) On the first day i stopped I had the same thing. Thought I had broken a bone.. Then it just went away, never came back.

amkoffee, the same happened to me, Itapered the Pred., and the next day I had a constant ache in my right ankle and leg, I have it every day now, a paracetamol takes it away for the rest of the day, I can't work out why this is, I am just grateful it does!

I have no idea what the neck it was but by the next day it was finally gone and has not come back thankfully. One of the reasons I was concerned was because I am already taking opiates for chronic back pain so if I feel that kind of pain thru those drugs I know it's bad.
