Ointment vs Pill

I have been taking Valtrex for my first outbreak for about 3 days now and have seen absolutely no changes. I was prescribed the ointment and was wondering if it works better and faster than the pill

How are you taking your Valtrex? Like day one...What did you take and when? I've been HSV-2 positive for ten years.

I've been taking 2 a day since like the 3rd day of my outbreak and have seen 0 relief. The ointment isn't expensive and I'll probably go get it filled anyway was just wondering if it worked better

Never tried it. Worth a shot though. I also use Summers Eve feminine power in my underwear during outbreak. Wear cotton underwear.

The ointment, if you mean acyclovir ointment, doesn't work better and is no longer recommended by doctors for genital herpes. Best to keep lesions dry. Oral meds work from the inside out, so are your best bet, but they tend not to make a huge difference with first outbreaks, especially if started a bit late.
