Ok once again No1 GETs the severity of the recovery: Has anyone else had 3 major rectocele repairs?

I have a level 1, a level 2, and a level 3 that's almost a level 4 rectocele situation that needs surgery Aug 7. My mom (not the MIL of prev story) is coming down to help but since she has had a single level 2 repaired she seems to think I will bounce back after a few days like she did. She had no kids at home him at the time and a parent caring for her every need as she was almost 60 at the time. It's not a contest as to who has a worse surgery but I'm so tired of explaining my surgery is more extensive than hers it's making me mental. She tends to be pretty ego centric at the best of times but this is getting bad. She even booked her return flight after I specifically pleaded for her to pls make it open ended. She arrives on the eve ogf the 3rd and my surgery is the a.m. of the 7th. 3 days (confirmed by surgeon) in hospital. So now I get out of hospital on the a.m. of the 10th and she flies home on the a.m. of the 15th. I'm so fortunate my husband has all of August off but I was hoping my mother would be here longer. I didn't ask her to care for me after dental surgery nor for after my knee surgery because I could handle that...but this ...am I just whining again? I keep reading how awful recovery is and getting so freaked out. Maybe I will recover better with just hubby if even just this gets me so anxious, hey?

Not sure what my point is except

Well

3 rectoceles...seems like a HUGE deal... any one else go through this?

THANKS in advance.

Hi DiLion - would it not be much better if she could be with you from the tenth? Instead of before? R

Yes but she wants to arrive before the surgery to help do.prep and shopping and cleaning...set up, sort of. So yes I guess it's good either way.

You're right--nobody is going to understand what your recovery is like. I had an extensive repair. I was in bed for about a week and a half with my hubby waiting on me hand and foot--sadly I couldn't enjoy it because I was hurting. After that, I was up and around, and the pain was much more bearable, but I couldn't do most child care, and I was unable to SIT. I could either stand and kind of shuffle around carefully, or lie down. I was gradually able to sit for longer and longer periods of time, but it does take time. Around 3 weeks, I was spending 50% of the day lying down. At 4 weeks, I was sitting in an easy chair with pillows all day (I work from home by computer). At 5 weeks, I was in a computer chair with pillows all day (with breaks every hour or so), and picking up the toddler again.

The truth is, if your mom isn't on the same wavelength with you, you will never make her change. She will never be able to make you feel less anxiety, and trying to make her see things your way is only adding to your stress. Just plan to depend on your husband, see if some of your girlfriends can agree ahead of time to drop off some meals or take the kids for a couple of hours during those first few weeks. Let your mom be the icing on the cake. Let her give whatever is within her capacity to give, and try to be glad that she loves you enough to try. I know that's SO SO hard--my mom is mentally ill, so I really get it. Yes, you WILL be in some pain. Yes, you will go through some rough spots mentally while you are recovering. But you WILL recover, and you WILL be glad you did it.

    Hi there

I don't really understand "3 rectoceles" I had a grade 2 ... but anyway. I guess on the bright side it's good ur ma is even coming to help at all. My ma didn't even ring 2 find out how I was! I think know ur limitations and just do the bare minimum. I'm not sure how old ur kids r but maybe they could help out a little. I wish u a speedy recovery.

Can you explain 3 separate rectocele.. A revtocel e is the bowel herniated into vaginal wall..we only have one bowel😂.

Im sure any help you receive will be a blessing. I had a tvh and anterior repair and I wasn't bed ridden. We are all very different recovering from these surgeries. Keep positive and you will be fine.x

      Easy

I have 3 protrusions into my vaginal wall not just one big one. The worst one is a stage 3 heading close to a stage 4 (out of my body all the time). The other two protrusions are progressively smaller, a 2 then a 1. 3 pockets (rectoceles trap fecal matter) started forming. Not everyone has just 1 rectocele. I was curious is anyone else had surgeey for multiple rectocles like me.

I had a rectoenterocele repair which is 2 prolapses (0ne small bowel, one large bowel) as well as double bi-lateral sacrospinous fixation all done at the same time. I was suprised how well I felt afterwards. The hardest thing was not doing too much as you must rest as much as possible and no heavy lifting ever afterwards (easier said than done in this hot weather with lots to watering to do in the garden!)  I was lucky and didn’t need any of the strong painkillers they gave me when I came home. We are all different but hopefully it won’t be as bad as you think. Accept any offers of help from friends.
