Okay, could this be something or just me hoping for it to be?

Hello all, in from my evening shift at work, and I have got to say that I spend the time before I had to go in, scrubbing my eye lash margins with a wet cotton ball and baby shampoo (the old standard) both top and bottom, then after rinsing it off, I proceeded to wipe the rest of my face with some full strength tea tree oil on a cotton ball, and let it sit for a while before I took a shower.  Scubbing the margins (insides where the oil glands are) really was a bit uncomfortable (it didn't hurt though) and it did produce some of that lovely old whitish stuff, but I cannot believe how much better my eyes felt all night long (and they look better too) after doing this.  Now I am going to hit this full force and keep doing this every single morning and every single night and see what happens.  (I fell by the wayside on the Wet Ones, b/c they dried out my skin in the eye area too much, sadly).  But I did mention in a previous post that my skin under my eyes felt like it was "pulling" and it was VERY crinkled looking and pulling upward.  After doing this, it seemed to lessen that feeling (and it looks better too).  I am hoping and praying that with dedication and persistance in encouraging my m glands to produce oils again, this could be something to get excited about.  I sure hope so, but wanted to share. Has anyone else had success in doing this persistently?  What inspired me to really get to it was watching the video today on the BlephEx procedure.  I can't afford to get that done so I thought to myself, well I can certainly deeply clean and stimulate those glands on my own at home (especially after I saw all the gunk that the lady in the vid had come out of those areas).  I saw some of the same thing with my own eyes after doing this and it is giving me some hope so I thought I would share.  Thanks.

    Dear Tina,

The tea tree oil works because it kills staph too. Several people have mentioned it was too strong. One person posted on the site how to mix it. He used it for Demodex but it does work on Blepharitis too. He said it was 10/90 for twice a week and 50/50 for the twice a week use. He said it was basic olive oil and 100% pure tea tree oil.

This is important because there are many people who cannot use the wipes and they could be reformulated at any time in the future. Tea tree oil will be around for a long time.

He posted this on Oliver's post and his name was tintin.

    Hope this helps you,

TY so much Lynda, it is very helpful (the tea tree especially) as I have suspected all along that this over three long years mess is some sort of staph/bacterial infection and if you want to wipe it out (so to speak) you have to use the "big guns."  I love tea tree, always have since I first discovered its beneficial properties for skin in general in my thirties, and will always tout its natural anti-bacterial properties (having been an acne sufferer my whole life pretty much).  It is strong but the smell is easy to get over when you see results!

I'd suggest anyone using any essential oil should to a test patch first. Inside of wrist is usual, leave for 24 hours.

very good advice Hollyberry and thank you for adding it.  None of us are the same, so what works for one won't work for another but I think these two in conjunction might be worth a good college try.  smile  I cannot believe i didn't consider tea tree earlier with my great results for mid thirties acne!  It really wiped it out.  The smell is very strong and it is an essential oil but if you can tolerate it I think it worth trying.  And for anyone with oily skin (in general) don't be put off by the use of the word "oil" in this stuff, it is like a "dry" oil, I don't know how else to explain it but it is good stuff.  smile

Hi Dena I don't use the tea tree IN my eyes, I just apply it full strength to the rest of my face after doing the warm water/baby shampoo regime, and the vapors actually induce my eyes to water, lol....which I think is a good thing.  At the same time, it is helping to reduce the "rash" (weird rash, I am thinking from this whole mess) that has migrated onto the skin of my left side (my worst eye)...it is like a red and white patchy mess but this is seeming to help it, and the vapors also help me as I stated.  I sit there with crying eyes but am happy to produce any tears and maybe between the two this is encouraging the glands to work normally again?  Early days but am about to do the whole process again this time with cotton swabs to be able to target the glands more precisely.  I used to use tea tree oil (full strength) to control my mild acne in my late thirties (am now in my forties), and it helped tremendously to keep my skin clear of irritation, etc.  Again it is early days but I am encouraged by what I am seeing so far.  smile  FTR I tried to use full strength tea tree on my left eye toward the socket but would NOT recommend this, it is far too strong full strength.

Hi Tina, thanks for your post. Just watched a video on the Blephex prodedure and it made me feel quite queasy. I noticed nothing came out of the ladies the left eye and a lot of stuff came out of the right eye. Is this what coalgulated oil should look like? Have a creamy consistency? I've been suffering from blocked glands for nearly  9 months now, trying the heat pad but haven't had any success. My actually lids aren't inflamed but there is a red line under both my lower lids. Been to an eye specialist who said I have dry eye syndrome but I believe that is just a symptom as I also have an itchy scalp and also have flakes appear on my lashes and eyebrows. Have you also looked at your diet as a possible cause? Thanks  x

Hi Tina could you let me know how you applied the tea tree oil to the eye area, I've been using the wet ones for a few weeks hoping to see a dramatic improvement but alas no, if anything the condition is worse, more redness and more swelling so would love to find an alternative, are you using it neat on cotton buds straight onto the eyelids and lash area? as for the bleph ex vids on YouTube, I suspect that it is simply a sales timid as none of the patients in the vids have any signs of eye issues so to me it seems a bit if a con trying to get desperate people to spend their money, but that's just my opinion.

Hi Tina could you let me know how you applied the tea tree oil, I bought some yesterday and put a few drops neat onto a cotton bud and applied to my lower lid margin, this must be incorrect as it felt like my eye ball was burning, 24 hrs later the redness and imflamation still hasn't dissipated from applying the oil so how is it applied?

    thanks

    pete....

Hi Pedro, I think the point Tina was making is that you DON'T apply to tea tree oil to your eyes, it is far too strong and likely to cause you even more irritation. You apply the oil neat to your facial skin as this will likely help kill the presence of bacteria feeding the problem. Seborrheic dermatitis in a major factor in the development of Blepharitis and MGD.

pedro64, I never would advise applying something as strong as tea tree oil IN your eyes, it is a very strong product, much too strong for the delicate eyes.  I use baby shampoo and scrub my lash lines (upper and lower, inside where the base of the lashes grow), after rinsing this with warm water, I then use a cotton ball to apply the tea tree to the REST of my face (not near my eyes though).  I suspect this will kill off whatever this bacteria thing is by attacking any area it has migrated to on my face.  It can only help in my mind, but it is early days.  I will say that doing the lid scrubs is slowly but surely helping my eyes to not sting, to not tear, and to feel much more comfortable throughout the day.  My eyes are even looking more "normal" these days, if that makes any sense.  Tea tree oil is an excellent natural anti bacterial but pls. don't use it your eyes!  You could do more harm than good.

I purchased tea tree hand and face bar soap at the health food store. I wash 2-3 times with it, I allow a scoch of soap to get in my eyes. it burns a bit and I rinse with warm water. It immediately takes the minor pain out of the outdside corners of my eyes I also do all the warm compressess, baby shampoo, occusoft products etc and it keeps it manageable.thanks for your inputs on this board
