hello everyone I'm a 62-year-old Woman with the riveter Brady's for about 14 years. I took Enbrel if you years ago and I still have a couple boxes of Enbrel injections and I wonder if I can still use them however on the box it says they're already expired about a year ago but someone told me that the medicine is good for much longer than that. I'm trying to get Enbrel from mine Sharon's but it's taking forever in the pain is killing me .
Not so much the joint paint what is so strange my arthritis is mostly nerve and tendon pain is that what everybody experiences?
So can I still use that Enbrel?

If they were just a few weeks out of date maybe they'd be OK - but if they are a year out of date that really isn't a good idea. You don't know which substances in them may have "gone off" and this is a liquid biologic - they are unlikely to be as stable as tablets..
If it is nerve and tendon pain - is that really RA?

sorry you are experiening so much pain. I have heard some medication can last much longer than the expiration date but a biologic I would say no. A month or 2 perhaps but a year out the medication could have lost it's effectiveness or worse
Hope you can get an appointment soon with your doctor and get started on something again

Thanks for your reply GLORIA 814, well my RA FACTOR Is very high. I'm thinking I might have something else mixed with the rheumatoid Arthritis. But every time I go to the doctor he says yes, this is due to the rheumatoid Arthritis.
I'm kind of confused I would like to get a few responses from people telling me what really the pain from RA feels like, because I have a lot of muscle pain and a little bit of joint pain and of course my hands my feet hurt I think that's all from the RA . Could I have fibromyalgia to? I don't know no doctor has ever mentioned it .

RA affects joints. If your pain is in muscles it could be fibromyalgia or it could be something called polymyagia rheumatica - and you can have both. Polymyalgia rheumatica responds dramatically to a dose of 15-20mg pred - fibromyalgia doesn't. Hands and feet can be involved in PMR too though a lot of doctors don't know about that.
It is very difficult to describe what RA (or any other autoimmune pain) feels like. EVeryone is a bit different.

I have read that many people that have RA also have fibromyalgia. And RA can affect tendons but I don't know exactly why or how. I have 3 autoimmune diseases so anything besides RA is possible. You don't say what medication you are on now. Many yrs ago I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. That was a basic exhaustion feeling mostly all the time but also multiple areas of pain in my body That pain would move from one area to another. Not severe pain but bothersome. Now with inflamm. RA my pain moves to various areas and my right foot and ankle area has had a burning sensation on and off. Not so much now that I am on MTX . You could certainly have PMR

I have pains in mostly every part of my body, now I'm on methotrexate 10 pills a week and apparently it's not working. I'm in the process of trying to get my insurance to pay for Humira but we know that could take a while to get approved.
My R A is so active right now then even I'm loading up on all kinds of over-the-counter medicine nothing is working and I don't know what else to do I'm so depressed sometimes I feel like it's not worth living any more .
Thank you for all your responses
