Old friends I don't want to talk to still keep calling and don't stop? Is it ok to block them?

Hey guys

I hope everyone is well.

Basically I have been feeling very worried and stressed as I am still getting phone calls and irritating messages from two old friends I just don't want to talk to.

The thing is one of them, me and another friend have suspected lies about his life, and for a long period I believed him.

Anyway after being close friends with him and the other friend, I just simply stopped contact as I realised they were going out way too much and gambling. It made me spend too much money and affected my health.

There was one occasion a month before I stopped contact with one of them insulted me terribly over a very long discussion after a night out at the casino because he thought I was playing against them with another friend which was of course not the case. However me and another friend who is good and I trust believe that he has a secret drink problem.

Any way to end this long story it's even more complicated, since I have ended contact with them I worry they are talking about me behind my back and insulting me also to other people and I fear over bumping into them again.

I just blocked them tonight as I got tired of the calls and messages was that the right thing to do?

Just my opinion, but I think that if you just block them, they will certainly talk about you - wondering what you're doing, blocking them, out of the blue, with no real reason.  If it were me, I would just say that you've got a new year's resolution, trying to stay away from drinking, gambling, etc.  Just continue to be friendly, but say no whenever they ask you to do something together.  They will eventually give up on you, which is exactly what you want.

    Yes!

If they are making your life difficult and you no longer wish them to be part of your life then you have every right to cut them out.
