    Hi Carol

Yes 17 years has been a while. Have you done any activity lately that would warrant this? It might be time to go see the doctor and think about a new tkr.  That’s where I would start and go from there. Possibly get a couple of opinions from different doctors.

    Good luck to you.

Get to your ortho for an evaluation. Prosthesis of that era were given a 10 to 15 year life. However; some lasted 20 or more. Just like an automobile, they aren't meant to go forever without a repair or two.

Hi carol. I would certainly want two or more opinions as to my options. My surgeon says cortisone injections are possible for pain after replacements. You need to be absolutely informed so see a good Orthopedic surgeon soon. Good fortune to you. x

I want to throw my 2 cents in about cortisone injections. Although it can give relief (but not all the time) it eventually destroys all the tissue in the area of shot which breaks down your already problem area. I am living proof of that. Just be careful on your decision. . Good luck. But yes go to your leg doctor!
