Omeprezole

I have been on Omeprazole on and off now for maybe 8 or so years. I worked out from my online medical account i have had roughly 1500 tablets since 2012. Now maybe a few hundred i have thrown away and not used and have been off them for 2/3 years and only more constantly used them since 2019 when i caught H Pylori.

i have noticed last year especially i don't feel as alert and majorly struggle to concentrate to the point its detrimental to my job. I have a lot of bone pain and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Also mu stomach feels no better at all.

i know the drug has a bad rep and i have stopped taking them and wont again. Doctors seem to leave you on them long term with no questions or guidance. One even told me back in 2012 you can tale as many as you want a day.

hi dave, omg! i can believe what i am reading but am shocked by the shady advice. i refuse to take omeprazole! each time i do it really affects my stomach. i wouldn't be surprised if it has irritated your stomach lining. why don't you do what i did? i simply swapped to gaviscon! it's the best thing i've done i have never had h-pylori but gastritis instead. i think just keep things bland!

Long term Omeprazole can have an effect on bone density so you could be suffering from Osteoarthritis. you must tell your doctor about these problems you are having. I agree, they are far too flippant with Omeprazole....its an easy answer for stomach problems but can have a lot of long term side effects. People who buy them OTC should be very careful.

Agree with Sam, Gaviscon is very good but do try to regulate your diet and try to avoid foods that give you upsets. Have you tried a food diary to try and pinpoint the culprits.I have found its high fat and high sugar foods that give me problems.

my mum was on omzoperole for years she now has kidney failure which her consultant has said was from taking them

worrying that doctors just dish them out like smarties they can cause all sorts of issues

have you tried liqourice root tablets before meals these can soothe your stomach and help digestion
