Hi it's one week since my operation, I have just noticed that although the tips of my toes are fine, the knuckle area beneath the toenail is not only purple but completly Numb... It is very shiny and has no feeling what so ever...

Has anyone else experienced the same ?

Ask your MD about gabapentin for nerve pain. Right around 10 days or so post op I had relentless burny tingling in my forefoot area that would set in early evening like clockwork. This was a lifesaver for me, allowing me to not only fall asleep relatively easily but also to maintain my rest for 6+ hours each night.

For reference, I had Chevron osteotomy and MBA subtalar arthroereisis (1/23/15).

Omg! I'm so glad I read this post. I'm going to ask my Dr about this medication.

I've been experiencing burning fire feeling on the bottom of my feet and especially around my pinky toe and he didn't even work on these areas. I had a bunionectomy, osteotomy with internal fixation and lapitus. (Screws on top of big foot and staple on big toe)

What did the Dr. Tell you about this burning feeling. Was he concerned about nerve damage? Mine seems to be getting worse. The pains med are not working, so I'm going to have to ask y Dr. about this med. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been miserable every night.

      Wishing you well

It is fairly expected due to nerve regeneration and healing from damage during surgery. My doc was not concerned. I wouldn't think your regular pain killer would do much for this; mine were useless. There are several other options to treat nerve pain if gabapentin is not an option. I am in US and so don't know what is approved elsewhere.
