On 200 mg of Sertraline and still no results- ADVICE needed

Hello everyone! Any input on my situation would be greatly appreciated- whether from personal experience or other.

My experience with SSRIs began when I started taking Sertraline last November for anxiety and minor depression. It helped TREMENDOUSLY once it finally got in my system and I felt like myself again. The dose I felt comfortable at during that time was 100 mg.

After six months on the 100 mg, I decided that I felt stable enough to start weening off of Sertraline since that is what my psychiatrist initially suggested and I had never needed an SSRI before. As I began weening off, I didn't notice any withdrawal or anxiety returning until I got down to 25mg. My anxiety returned with a vengeance and I immediately decided that maybe I had been too hasty in weening off and decided to slowly re-increase up to 100mg in the hopes that I would feel okay again. After being on 100 mg for several weeks and not seeing any results, I began to feel as though that dosage was no longer effective for me.

Instead of upping my dosage, I asked my doctor to switched me to Lexapro which unfortunately did not work for me at all (even after taking it for several months). After that, I decided to give Zoloft another try since it was what helped me so much initially- which is where I am now.

I have been on Sertraline now for 5 1/2 weeks. I initially started on 50 mg the first week, went up to 100 mg the following two weeks, went up to 150 mg the next two weeks and after seeing no results increased once more to 200 mg which I have now been on for 5 days.

I honestly haven't felt much relief from my social anxiety at all during this time period and feel as though I can't genuinely laugh when I am naturally a very bubbly person. For this reason, I am starting to feel discouraged about this SSRI and wondering if there's still hope that it will work in the coming weeks. A few outside factors in my life that haven't been going so well for me may be contributing to my current state of depression but maybe I'm just being impatient. Ultimately, I know how well it worked for me the first time and to have zero results now is tough.

I know that was A LOT but any advice you have would be amazing!!! Thank you! <3

Currently I'm feeling pretty overwhelming social anxiety and minor depression. Like I overthink before I speak and feel extremely awkward at times around my close friends even. Hoping this begins to take a turn for the better soon!

I know where you are coming from! I was Lexapro for 10 yrs and worked great! Then all of a sudden it stopped working and all my anxiety and depression returned! I was on 10 mil and my GP increased it to 20 thinking that would do the trick! Well 8 weeks in with little improvement I am discouraged that it is not working like we had hoped, I finally will be seeing a psychiatrist in a few weeks so hopefully he can regulate some meds that will be effective! I have tried cymbalta, Prozac and Zoloft and the side effects were bad!

Thanks Wilb! It's good to know I'm not alone in this. Hopefully we can both find something soon that works for us

It's tough to say because every one experiences different side effects. I remember occasionally being irritable but it wasn't constant. I'd keep an eye on it for the next few weeks because I've been told in some cases it can make people manic
